The purpose of World Telecommunication Day and Information Society (WTISD) is to help raise awareness of the possibilities that the use of the Internet and other information and communicationtechnologies (ICT) can bring to societies and economies, and ways to bridge the digital divide.

The government and the cellular operators have reached a consensus on the advance of withholding tax, as it was decided that the cellular carriers will make 10 percent down payment of withholding tax due to spectrum auctions 3G and 4G in the current month, said an official.
However, the FBR has been assigned to devise a formula for the return of billions of rupees stuck up refund of telecommunications operators in different phases.
In each auction is from the government, the income tax ordinance allows the FBR to collect 10 percent of the WHT withholding agent that sells any asset of the government.
One of those companies had also raised the issue that the FBR had not yet given them stuck up repayments so you will be able to submit billion rupees withholding tax in advance, he said.
The WHT is an adjustable tax when companies submit their tax returns next year , then it could be customized, keeping in view the overall tax obligations.
The FBR has so far collected Rs1, 745 billion during the first ten months (July - April ) of the current financial year and will have to collect Rs530 billion to achieve the revised tax collection target of Rs2, 275 billion.
